Communication is key. I deal with various Printers, all who do things differently. Layman's terms all the way.

Have the client proof and sign the work off before it is printed. That way if anything drops off (as can happen), its on the clients head.

Just had a look around your site. The design work is good, however i would alter the way which the 'larger' images are viewed. They are simply to big.

You will need a solid knowledge base before stepping foot in a design studio. Their are many elements to the industry that need to be understood before hand. A university graduate will know the basics, and this will get them access to a Design Studio, where the real education begins.
