I was expecting to see some funky monkey character illustration on there going by your name (... or is that just me being too shallow?)

No, cos I was looking for a funky monkey too. I must be equally shallow *hangs head in shame*

i love the look and feel of the services page. it feels warm and personal in a field that sometimes feels a bit sterile. I'd like to see that vibe translated across more pages, especially the about where i feel lit lacks personality.

Agree with that: self-deprecation is fine in its place but in your trading name?

People who want a monkey: Maybe in the near future, my drawing skills aren't good enough for that! Plus a illustration wouldn't really fit with the rest of the design imo. But if you want your monkey fix, then there's one on the 404.

As for the name, yes it may be weird and you might think it's slightly strange however I was bored with the bog standard design names, most important of all clients like the name, we're meant to be in a creative industry but when it comes to names people seem to be unable to think outside the box.
