Our client a specialist technology organisation in Cambridge is recruiting for a Web developer/Digital Marketer for a 6-9 month maternity contract. This role would be ideal for someone who is looking for their next challenge to gain a broader skill set.

This role involves:

Designing, developing and maintaining website ensuring strong security, optimisation and functionality
Assisting in the planning of overall company policy regarding search engine optimisation and web -development
Developing the programming code from scratch or by adapting existing websites graphics packages and software to meet business requirements
Testing the website and identifying any technical problems and hitches
Determining any functionality that the site must support and developing PHO content based on practical approved layout
Monitoring site technical performance and web servers
Working on projects including web layout enhancements, desktop applications, website enhancements, web-based applications, and database-backed websites
Coding web pages utilising CSS and XHTML and programming languages including JavaScript, SQL and PHP
Interacting with and maintain servers using SSH, FTP and Telnet protocols
Working in a variety of development frameworks
Working with various database systems including PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL Server and frameworks including ADO and ODBC
Analysing, reviewing and modifying web systems by designing, maintaining, documenting, testing, developing and monitoring
Assisting group marketing in preparation and implementation of exhibitions and events

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience developing PHP based software an advantage
• Good understanding of major operating systems
• Knowledge of international web standards and protocols
• Desire to stay updated on current and new technologies
• Ability to multitask and strong time management and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Some foreign travel may be required
• At least a 2 year degree/diploma in a computer-related field (computer science/programming).
• Knowledge of common programming languages including XML and PHP
• In-depth knowledge of ASP, JavaScript, JSP, CSS, HTML and XHTML
• Good database knowledge especially SQL Server or MySQL
• Experience working with a multidisciplinary marketing department
