Typeface or Font?

Hey guys,
I published a long post on my blog where I address the issue of typography's terminology in the digital era. While ordinary people use typeface and font as synonims, we as designer try to be more strict about it. However, during my research I discovered that not even books and dictionaries have unanimous definitions for the two words. Not to mention professors. This is probably why many designers still don't know the difference between typeface and font; I can't blame them.
If you have some time to devote to my article I would really like to hear your opinion on this subject.

My time at University distinguished Typeface as the Family: Times new roman, or Arial, as examples. And the Font is the specifics: Arial, bold, 12pt, black.
