Hi everyone. Was asked to create a new brand identity for a seafood restaurant in Glasgow as part of a design project in college.I am currently in my last year of a degree course @Cardonald College.

The Brief: To create a brand identity for a new seafood restaurant in Glasgow

1 X Adshell
A4 Letterhead
Compliment Slip
Business Card

The final concept came from an Adigraph print and tied in with the feeling of water/waves. Wanted to keep it very organic with more emphasis being placed on the actual logo than anything else. Please take time to have a look over it, i welcome any feedback you may have.

Thanks for now

Bryan

I like it Bryan, it's got a real traditional feel to it. With the first image I'm not too keen on the image of the shrimp, it looks very misplaced and doesn't fit in with the style of the rest of the poster, perhaps an illustration of a fishing boat on the sea? On the bottles of wine I like the simplicity of it but not too keen on the green, I think it's too dark against the bottle. The letterheads etc look good, keeping it simple so good stuff there. With the van it looks fine but a little boring, perhaps think about using more of a wrap rather than a simple logo? Lastly that doesn't look to be standard business card size unless of course that's what was wanted. All in all though nicely done!

Hi Ben, wow thank you, all in all really pleased with your feedback. All valid points and taken on board. This project has been handed in and the points you brought up were pretty much the same. The selection of wines was purely for our client presentation crit so wanted a spread across the pantone range for there choice. I agree also now looking at it that the shrimp is definately out of place and i agree also that the van looks a little boring, these were purely as part of the client presentation/mock up stage and were rectified. Again your spot on with the business card, this was a fault on my part after getting the sizing wrong on AI at pdf / print stage so i lost a few marks on that. Really appreciate the feedback Ben thanks again.

that's all good then. when you were in the process of putting the designs together, did you seek feedback at that point? reason I ask is that it's very important to get feedback throughout projects otherwise you do of course end up loosing marks when of course they may have been corrected with feedback, this is also the same when it comes to actual jobs, communication is key and feedback is a must!

Yes there is mentoring sessions throughout the course of the project. Usually after Thumbnails/Mindmap/Sketchbook stage, then Development, Client presentation and before final crit. The colours etc on the wine bottles were purely a choice and were not picked at random, we look into a lot of things like colour relations and mood boards so the colours reflected the design and feel in a way so were relevant to the overall concept. The lecturers at Cardonald are all industry proffesionals and are very much for the whole design process. Totally agree with you though, the more time spent on brainstorming and mindmap stage the better results you get.

sounds like you've got it all covered but good to come on here to get different feedback, after all one person's love is another person's hate.
