The outsourcee: working with other agencies

Hey all

Curious to hear some opinions on offering assistance as a freelancer to agencies. Obviously you are going to be working at a cheaper rate than you would charge an end client directly however I was wondering how you each set your rates with them. Do you charge a percentage of your hourly rate or on a job by job basis? And how much do you expect to drop your rate by to allow the agency to make a mark up to their client?

Hi Jamie, I have worked for several agencies where they needed help with overflow work, typically I charge more, then I would do a private client. The agencies I have delt with have come to me due to having tight deadlines and need to be pulled out of a pickle fairly sharpish.

I would recommend doing it, as long as you have good procedures setup and can honestly be regimental in your time keeping and be reliable to hand off 110% completed and commented code at very short notice.
