Rebranding famous companies

Hey,

I started a new project in January this year which is rebranding famous logos and documenting the process on YouTube. It's developed into a user participation style video where I create 5 options and then we have a poll to vote for your favourite final option.

It has received (mostly) good feedback from the design community so I thought it might be of interest to users of this forum.

The link is: <link removed> and I appreciate all feedback!

Cheers

Please select the videos you wish to share and use the Insert Media option from the forum menus - links to youtube channels will not be tolerated and treated as spammy advertising. If you want critique then post the video in the forum.

The 3 dots in the bar in the reply box - then select Media and paste your youtube link.

Thanks

Hey - thanks for doing that.

That's actually really cool. For starters, your sketches are great and your illustrator work is very good indeed! Well done.

As a thing with rebranding though, it's not just about font change and logo redirection. Core beliefs have to be adhered to, and with the Adidas logo it was originally a trefoil shape to represent 3 continents and the lines represented the steps up/goals (and Adidas, Reebok & TaylorMade).

In the current format of the logo with the angled stripes, they represent a mountain, a challenge for athletes. Where I think you have done a relatively ok in the redesign of the logo - it is not hitting all the marks on the challenges and core beliefs of the logo history.

I wouldn't necessarily call what you have done a rebrand - but a reimagination of the logo. Rebranding has so many other facets.

Overall it's very good though - nice techniques and a good exercise.

Cheers dude I understand what you're saying completely!

I do research the project but I also make 1 episode a week, so I don't go as deep as if I was paid to actually rebrand!

I learnt about the mountain and three stripes but not the continent bit so thanks that's interesting info.

It's great work, keep it going.

It was refreshing to see someone who knows what they are doing! Well done!

Good initiative mate. Such a clever/unique channel concept. Keep up the good work, best of luck!
