Project management qualifications and training

Hey guys, after a bit of advice/direction.

I know a lot of you on here are freelance, I was for a while but for the past 10+ years I've worked back in a design agency.

And over the years I've found my role change more away from hands 'shop floor' work and more towards client and project management.

I'm totally happy with the client account management side of things, 20 years in the industry I’m able to use my mixed knowledge and consult and advise.

But I’ve never had any formal training or even used any software to aid with Project management so I feel this is my week spot.

Just wondered what tools people used and whether distance learning (or even local college) to try and gain some kind of recognised qualification might be the way to go.

And what are the recognised qualifications in project management?

While I can't give you info about training etc I would say look into Microsoft project (or similar) which allow you to visually represent timelines (including the 'staggered line' visuals) and in essence manage the project
