Problem solving

A client asked me to solve the following problem.

Design a desk that can hug a curved wall, made of solid oak, with a removable middle section in the middle spanning 1.6 meters. The removable section has to be easily moveable and stored away. Check out the concept design on my blog.

Let me know what you think, be harsh if you think it will not work :)

Note: I've got flu

That's far too over engineered, it can be done so much simpler. I very much doubt window access would be a daily thing. Also pretty sure the whole shelf would collapse without support or major engineering underneath.

PS - go introduce yourself in the intro's section

Thanks for your post, I understand it looks over engineered and there is going to be some pretty heavy duty metal work going on underneath to support the structure. The client specified, no legs, no breaks in the surface (no steps) as well as an elegant storage method for the removable section. They are willing to pay a fair amount for this section of the job (the second part is to make some curved adjustable shelves).

What would you do if you where me? How would you go about solving this problem?

Cheers for you post and I will go introduce myself in the intros section :)
