Please critique my latest college project

Hi,

I was tasked to design a book jacket for the Harry Potter series, I'm unsure of this first draft and would love some constructive feedback from you guys.

What an inspirationally original subject, Harry Potter..

It reminds me of the tea stained paper we had to use in middle school when we were writing a medieval story, it doesn't really make me think of magic and wizards. Nor does it appear to synonymous with the wondrous, vibrant world in which the book is based.

What does it make you think about when you look at it?

It does however look like the map (showed where other people were with footprints etc) from the film

Does it say harry potter to me... not particularly..

If it was me I'd be taking it more abstract... monocromatic, with 2 'features' of harry potter and some text

Too me it looked like a book about wizards. It looked old like an old witches book. Your on the right path.
