New Years Revolutions

So as the year draws to a close, what revolutionary new tools or techniques have you started using that have become an essential part of your design life.

For example, was 2012 the year you started to use the cloud? Have you recently began using a new piece of software that you can no longer do without? A new philosophy or work ethic perhaps? A new way of listening to music whilst you work or really anything else at all, let me know.

A new website lol... (waits for squiddy)

Hopefully with a 'client area' but still deciding on that idea.

Partially moved to the cloud this year but I've had remote access to my home network for ages so it's not really something I've seen a need for. Although google music is handy :)

Haha... dream on for that site Levi :p

I think I need to start looking at motion graphics (gifs, animated videso etc) to offer as a service as well as promoting myself.. I have found some particularly good videos over on Vimeo ( https://vimeo.com/search?q=graphic+design ) and I think if I could produce something of this standard (or even half) by the end of 2013 I know I would have accomplished something very useful.

Every few years I like to set myself a yearly project that I MUST complete for the whole year, for example, back in 2011 I drew an animal picture every day to improve my skills in hand drawn art and animal anatomy as well as the opportunity to explore new physical media to get these pictures done rather than digital (Although I did the odd digital animal picture for some variation to the project).

This year I've decided to start a weekly project on my blog: http://graphicscove.com/blog/ where every Saturday I would take a website that could do with a visual uplift and redesign it. Hopeful this will improve my analysis and visual skills as well as my digital design skills.

That's a really good idea. Did you see the Pixar animator who designed a new superhero every day of the year?
