New Website - I need feedback!

Hi guys, Just semi-finished my new website wallstamp.co.uk

I really need some constructive criticism.

I know I need to make the file upload function a little more descriptive as at the moment it just shows the customer that something is happening but not how long it's going to take.

I have tried to keep the feel a little plain and gallery like.

The custom canvas printing section is MY CANVAS.

The other section (launching late August early September will be my photos sold in an online store format CANVAS ART.

If anybody could take a look and see what they think I would be very grateful, all opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks for now

changes

Had a quick look

Seems nice but what bugs me is the font size of 'MY CANVAS' and CANVAS ART' they both the same as your logo WALLSTAMP and it bugs me....

trying to think what you could do.. maybe have it on a new line or on the same line but make the font size half the size of the logo font size.

Create your own (MY CANVAS) or Choose from a selection of exclusive designs (CANVAS ART)
this line bugs me because it's aligned to the right and seems squash. possibly replace it with the line at the bottom Exceptional quality canvas prints - featuring water resistant & 200 years plus fade resistant inks

but add the line highlighted in red to the top line of 'Preimuim quality prints'

Oh and the image after the dog, when it loads a image of your company Qualites with all the text " ...HP canvas fine art prints" or something. I'm pretty sure a lot of us here would agree the font used and the way it shown is 'Bad', looks completely out of place , bottom line... bad job' , at least use your company's font, the one you used for your logo.

cheers

Thanks Peter for your feedback

Yeah I agree on the last image - it just doesn't look right after all of the images. I think I may just get rid off that all together.

The titles were supposed to be big idiot proof directions - one way or the other kind of thing. I do understand its not the norm and it does look a little strange. I will have a little think on your suggestions about the size.

thanks I will post later on Sunday after I have made the changes.

thanks

Neil

alterations

Made a few alterations based on your comments and it looks better for it.

Neil

Hi, I like the design, nice and simple, I'd change your call to action from 'Click here' to something else, it's not the best thing to use for accessibility of your site, maybe some thing like 'Find out more about our canvas printing process'. Also I don't get why the 'Click here' was bigger than the other text :icon_confused:

Coding:

Why do you have inline styling for some elements? Could you not just put these in the CSS file? Run it through a validator you only have two errors and they're pretty simple just alt tags for one, so not too much.

Hi Chris thank you for your comments, I was hoping that somebody would tell me to change the big 'click here' I have been a little lazy lately.

The in-line styles are down to a little inexperience, I have only started looking at coding this year and so you can imagine CSS has been a little bit confusing.
I think that they have come from magento text editors. I have changed styles throught he admin panel and not on the CSS style sheet. Is it a really bad for me to have it this way? I am unaware to the pitfalls that this may create.

Thanks Again
Neil

Ah right yeah using magento would be the reason why, it's not really a big issue I was just a little confused.

Hi neils.

I work here at I4 Visual Media and we're Internet specialists.
I took a look at your site, I like the look of the design, it's crisp and clean.
All I would say is finding the navigation pane in the bottom left migth not be the greatest place to have it, just for ease of browsing:) In my honest opinion.
All around good though, the italic font isn't too small so it doesn't look horrible like some other sites who do that.

Thank you i4 for your support, it is hard trying to decide between form and function!

My aim for the website was to stay away from the mass prodcued look. I am trying to give the customer an overall gallery like feel with as little distractions as possible.

My next steps are to modify the upload function to show the time it will take to upload the file and also start adding prodcuts to the CANVAS ART section.

The navigation pane has been an on going dilema, I may add bold titles to the top of the columns.

Thanks again
Neil

Heys
No problem. If you have any question do ask, I'll be happy to help though I'm more SEO based myself I'm sure the rest of the team wont mind thrwoing in advice:)
Yeah I can tell you're really going for an Individual design, it defiently works.
Every site is different depending on the product :) Yours works great for you as far as the gallery goes. In my opinion like i said though, just an SEO guy lol.

thanks.

Hi neil

It does look better, i agree.

these 2 lines:

Create your own (MY CANVAS) or Choose from a selection of exclusive designs (CANVAS ART)
Exceptional quality canvas prints every time

bugs me that its align to the left of the page, maybe align it all to the left to see how it looks?

I prefer this line
Exceptional quality canvas prints every time[/I]
to be aligned to the left so it's almost like a sub heading for the little details beneath the page

Hi Neils,

I noticed that you used nochex as your merchant account, what is the difference between that and cartel?

Kind Regard
James

Hi James, Not sure about cartel. The reason I went with nochex is that there is only a £50 set-up fee and no monthly payments.
The downside to nochex is that you can't integrate payments on the your site. You are redirected to a secure page which you can customise to match your brand image.
Its not a perfect solution but for a start-up like myself every penny counts.

Thanks
Neil
