My new website...

Hi everyone I am new to the site and had good recommendation that this is a really good ad friendly forum, so I joined.

I thought I would post my work in development website up for my freelance company just to see what people think, like/don't like etc...

Please let me know your thoughts. Is the black too heavy? I was considering changing it to white with colour thumbnails, but I like the tonal collective theme of the b/w

my website is Welcome to Branding Direction

I am still adding work to projects as we speak.
thanks

Some really nice work there - and considering the portfolio isnt custom it still works nicely. A few of the work examples dont load for me though? (80% of them) but not sure if thats just me?

Look forward to having you around and on a personal level expect some print how to questions from me :D

What's going on with the home page code?

HTML:
...
<p> </p>
<blockquote>
  <blockquote>
    <blockquote>
      <blockquote>
        <blockquote>
          <blockquote>
            <blockquote>
              <blockquote>
                <blockquote>
                  <blockquote>
                    <blockquote>
                      <p> </p>
                    </blockquote>
                  </blockquote>
                </blockquote>
              </blockquote>
            </blockquote>
          </blockquote>
        </blockquote>
      </blockquote>
    </blockquote>
  </blockquote>
</blockquote>
...
And that home page needs to be text, not an image.

Make your mind up whether you want your text to be third person or first person.
Don't chop the bottoms off the circles like you did with your header unless thats your intended design (I don't think it is)

Thanks for the feedback.
Comments all valid.
The homepage is temp as I am trying to transfer the site to my domain FTP.
The logo - yes your right slighty cut off, not intentional, will sort tonight.
Re text 3rd - having an editor to look over the site.

I think 3rd person is better route though.
Thanks for the feedback

Black is bit heavy for me on your site. Hate mono halftones..WHY do something like that? It's not a 1930 RKO film. Seems like some nice work- But I got bored waiting for the first image to load so i clicked off halfway through as I need to go home for some food at sometime today.

Agree with Levi, first or third person.... I think first person if you are flying solo - sound too pretentious otherwise.

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to the forums, good to hear you found DF through a recommendation :)

I quite like the site, I think it would work better if you could have the portfolio hosted on your own domain, so you could lose the splash/intro page altogether.

Also agree with Berry, as you're on your own I would write in first person, third person sounds a bit too much like you're trying to get a biography out.

HTH and look forward to seeing you around DF

1. Nice site, past the image index page.
2. Nice colours
3. Dont like how the logo at the top scrolls but the menu doesnt, something there doesnt quite fit!
4. I have to scroll horizontally to see the rest of the images, is that supposed to happen? Either way its kinda irritating.

Nice look though.

Hi Jonathan,

I'm fairly new to web design so I won't bother commenting on the technical side, looks ok design wise to me... some nice work in your portfolio :up:
