ha, just watched a McDonalds TV commercial about 99p meals.

It's said....'A quid, also known as a Bob''.... wrong.
because I'm as old as the Ark I know a Bob is slang for 10p 'old money ( shillings )- Pre- Deciilisation ( 1971) therefore a Quid is 20 'bob' or the modern equivalent of a single 5p.

10p pieces where 2 shilling coins when I were younger.

A 'bob' was a shilling in old money, that is 12d. There were 20 bob to the pound. The modern equivalent is 5p. I assumed I'd misheard the McDonalds ad, but before I could double check they appeared to have pulled it.
