imac 20" second monitor

Time to take the plunge and get a second monitor.

Im running a 20" imac with a resolution of 1680x1050.

I obviously want my new screen to work with this and not have empty areas (black bars) for instance running down the side.

Unless I stand correctly the imac has a 16:10 aspect ratio, im thinking of getting this screen:

Acer 22" LED DVI

Would there be any issues in using a second screen with a different aspect ratio? Lets say 16:9 ?

Thanks,

Phil

None that I can see. I run a 20" iMac and a 22" HP 2309m monitor and have no probs.
HP - 1920 x 1080 iMac - 1680 x 1050.
Don't forget that you can set up either screen as your main.
I tend to use the HP as my main screen and have the dock there.

Simples.

Hi Typo, thanks for the reply - was just what I wanted to hear!

Any views on the Acer screen that I linked to?

Typo - do you by any chance have a photo of the HP monitor sat next to your 20" imac - Im a little bit specific about things and want to know how it looks!

Thanks a lot Typo :)

Not sure which screen to get, but I can get a VERY good price on the Acer through a friend... no obvious set backs in the Acer I assume?

I'm very happy with my HP and I've used Acer monitors in the past and had no problems.
The prices are dirt cheap....good luck.
