I'm not expert in programing, and I don't know if I'm in the right place. If someone can indicate me in this search I'll be very gratefull. If you want to learn how to create a forum, you have two options in my eyes.

1. Download Wordpress and install the Simple:Forum plugin
2. Buy a license off vBulletin for use of a forum on your domain.

vBulletin is a lot of coding work from the sounds of what Greg's told us, whereas Wordpress with plugin just means applying to your domain's database and changing a few elements.

Hey Takuan, welcome aboard. There are simple forums available out there, although I don't know the ins and outs. What Tim says seems to make sense.

Lots of thanks to all. I have a account and a Blog in Wordpress. I had download a plugin called WP-Forum but I have no idea of how to install it. After the download of the plugin I just have a folder with a few .txt and .pot documents. Can someone help me?

Thanks!!

Hi Takuan,

Welcome to Design Forums, you have a few options when it comes to forum software, check these out & see if any suit your needs...

Simple Machines Forum (Free)
phpBB Forum (Free)
Vanilla Forum (Free)
vBulletin (Paid)

Or a free plugin like the WP one Tim mentioned. In my opinion vB is the best available, but obviously you need to be able to warrant the costs involved in buying a license, if you're not sure start off with phpBB, vB has an import function for phpBB if you ever did want to switch across.

Good luck.
Thanks, Greg

PS- I don't think you'll get much specific forum advice here other than what's in this thread as this is Design Forums, try asking at phpBB or vBulletin specific forums for further info :)
