Hessian - a designer sells a blank brand

A graphic designer called Ben Pieratt has created and is trying to sell the brand Hessian to anyone willing to buy. The concept is that the brand could be applied to anything.

View the work here; http://hessian.tv/

And then what you get and the asking price here: http://hessian.tv/forsale.htm

Is this truly a faceless brand? Is it a good idea? Is this the future of speculative work?

Ahhhh. Font test.
Ahh, the owner of DF is copy pasting news articles :(
I wasn't overly impressed by the content that you linked to... $18k!? Really?

Huh? Someone on my Twitter feed had posted it and found it interesting.

I typed ^^ that up on here a second ago. No idea at all why the font's went all skewy :/ If it was a proper article, it would've been more well written ;)

I'm loving the retro "This forum doesn't support html" theme that you've gone for, lol :D
What did you think of the quality of the work he'd produced?

It's because I went on after you mentioned the font, tried to change it and it all went pear shaped. It's all there now! Didn't copy and paste it though :/
I really like the work he's produced, but, I don't think he's going to be able to sell it to "anyone" like he states. If a hairdressers or someone in that line of work came in for it, I don't think it would work. Also, with the web address being .tv I think he's pretty much geared it towards one market already?

The style he's got going on though is great. I love full branding projects like this one!

I looked there and all I was thinking was I've seen a slanted H logo like that somewhere before.... but I can't think where for the life of me.
Besides who in their right mind would want to be called hessian, a cheap woven cloth that used to be used to store potatoes etc

All those possible applications, mobile apps, websites, social media, apparel... and not once did he put it on an actual hessian sack or bag!? Disappointed.

Well, someone clearly passed top of their marketing and advertisement class! :p
I don't know, I'm looking at it all and, whilst it's interesting, I just don't think I can see it being worth $18k. I'm not overly keen on the UI work either.. Am I alone in this? Does everyone else love it?

I don't think it's worth the $18k price tag. I'll be interested to see if it sells though.

I heard the brand and the first thing I was expecting to see on the link was some of the material at least.

Same here. Maybe he thought that would be too obvious. The closest thing is all the diagonal H's together, resembling a fabric weave.
