Hi all

Ok so heres my story. I have been a graphic artist for many years now. I got a 1st at university, then moved onto working for marketing agencies for several years. For the last 5 years ive been freelance, and am now unable to manage the volume of work coming in solo. I decided to use my experience to start a design business.

Well I am majorly failing at the logo. Its asif my confidence has totally gone, and I feel like I dont know what I feel about it anymore good or bad. I know there is a lot riding on this as, bad logo bad design company I just dont know whats come over me.

I am usually very confident with corporate i.d but im just not performing when its my own.

Advice/crit needed (please be nice im quite delicate haha).

I think a milk bottle would look better maybe..i think its house looking carton that throws you off? what is it that is getting at you about it?

I can see where your coming from because you want your logo to have some sort of charisma and stand out! I think maybe just draw up as many ideas as you can and one will stick.. you know whens its right you just get that feeling and if you have doubts its usually best to try something different.

Hello on a quick look I would say that the lines on the carton are to straight and sharp soften them up and fill out the yellow all the way. I think it looks too much like it has been created on a computer and I dont thing the concept needs that. Not sure about the font but either way I would make sure it lines up with something with in the carton maybe the side closest. Also the leading is too tight for such a heavy font. that just my two cents but I think it could look really good with a few more tweeks! :)

Always the hardest doing artwork for yourself! The proportions of the carton look wrong to me, also. Loosen it up and play with it a bit more. The font is nice but perhaps try some others.

If I'm honest I'm not keen on any of them so far. That being said, the first idea is closest with regards to your actual name. These new ones don't connect at all for me.

Branding yourself is surprisingly tricky for someone who specialises in branding people. It took me around 3 months to come up with what I finally decided to go for. I must have gone through 70 or 80 ideas before settling on a very boring logo type in Helvetica Bold. Just keep plodding on and you'll 'arrive' at something you love eventually.

I hated branding for myself too. It's a complete and utter nightmare. And, now that I'm using something, I'm seeing the limitations of it and want to change it again.

I think with the new ideas there it reads "banana design milk" which isn't right? The first idea was definitely the closest to connecting in terms of your name but it needed to be improved quite a lot. The carton shape wasn't great and the font could do with a little bit of work.

Agree with the previous two posts that, for me, the new ones don't have any resemblance to you and don't seem to feel right. I like the idea of the carton but I'm not sure it's been executed well yet, but it could certainly be something to work with.

Must also say that I prefer the font used in the two water droplet ideas than the original carton idea, too.

Out of interest where did the name come from? Is there a story behind it? I'm just thinking that if you go back to the beginning and think about what you wanted your name to represent. If it's quirky like the name then design with that in mind and don't be afraid to experiment and just have fun with it. Designing for your own brand is hard because you put so much pressure on yourself to get it right. Take a step back and pretend it's not for you for a moment. Be completely honest about what you like and don't like.

Personally I don't think the font matches the straight edges of the carton and thats causing it to look a bit mismatched. I would try loosening the lines of the carton or try a straighter font :)

Hope this helps.

You'll get there!!

Almost exactly what I was going to say so thanks for saving me the typing :icon_biggrin:

I have said before and will say again, when a few of us need logos we should all do them for each other

the concept behind it was:

Joe public is starting up a company wants good quality branding. He looks through the yellow pages, at a list of design companies. With no logo or description to go off just plain font and a list of names he has to go by that. He sees for example 'p.k logic media solutions'. To me I would imagine that the design work would be very structured and slightly formal. Comes across 'banana milk design', and things thats quite quirky. This company may have a modern edgy approach to design, which is free and versatile. I also wanted something with a visual ref so I could make it a gimmick (we make fresh banana shakes for clients when they come in for proposals etc).

Here is a few ive been running through tonight.

I have left the colours monotone so that crit on the colours can happen easier.

I like the first one, and the very last one you posted although I feel they're still not quite right. The first, the milk carton sits a little too wide for me? With the second, I think the bold edges could maybe do with looking at and the font placement adjusted a little, but it's definitely getting better I think.

getting to the end of my tether with this creative block ha. Cant finalise the website etc until its right.
