I have cs6 and have the attached image. I want to put a outline around the text and logo to make it stand out. Can anyone advise how to do this please?

If you have the image as a vector file then open it in Fireworks (or ideally Illustrator since Fireworks was really intended for web and interface design), select the shapes and just add a stroke. If you only have a raster version (PNG, JPG etc) then you'll need to use something like Photoshop to add the stroke.

I'd highly advise against adding an outline though, I honestly think it will make the logo worse.

As Paul says, don't bother. Even if it's possible on such thin strokes, it won't make it look better. I think what you need
is a simpler, more legible script font, or a bolder version of that one.

Is this for a website?

If so the easiest way to do this is with a CSS border. That way you get to keep the original logo
