Not sure if this is in the correct forum so apologies if not.

Im having trouble setting up a new site on Filezilla
It is saying... "Status:Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known"

Im not sure if the information I have been given for the host is correct:

never liked filezilla to be honest but.....

it looks like you need to set it up for a private server connection.

I'll grab a portable version to look at it properly

ok.... that's a convoluted setup if I'm honest...
you got any other options for logging into the ftp?

I've read around the net that its incorrect login/passwords. Unless the client has given me incorrect information it can't be that as I've checked, double check and triple checked everything.

It's driving me crazzzzzzzy.

No other options, why is the something wrong withe the ftp info i was given?

Will give that FireFTP a bash. Thanks :) x
 
not sure but filezilla is just overly complicated for my lazy brain this evening, fireftp 'should' be easier :)

it will also find out if there's any issues with the login info etc
 
what does this mean...

ftp.gltech.myzen.co.uk uses an invalid security certificate.

- The certificate is only valid for zencphosting05.zen.co.uk.

This could be a problem with the server's configuration,
or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

looks like the security certificate either needs updating (ie for website location) or it's out of date.

Can you make an exception to get round it so you can upload?
 
the exception basically just acknowledges that you know that the certificate is 'out of date' but you have used the site before so want to continue with logging in.

As to who's fault - unless you've added a certificate to the site at some point it's likely the host, iirc I had it once and it sorted itself out a few days later.
 
I can't login to this at all.
I've contacted the guy who is hosting my client so lets see what he says aye?

Do you think if he had cpanel I could access it easier?
 
Login password is wrong.

Get the client to double check the details they sent for authentication.

It says in the log.
 
The host is an old friend of the clients, so ive dropped him an email to double check info etc. However the client says that he hasnt spoken to this guy for "years" Surely if he is hosted with hims ome form of contact or payment must have been made in those "years"

Could it be possible that the clients account is no longer active? Although the holding page for the website is still up from last year...?

hey hippy, read the error log line by line,
It fails on the password.

the password is wrong, everything else is fine.

(trying to find what ip address this host name resolves to)

(great I have found the ip lets connect to it)

Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
(awesome we have connected, now ill wait till im allowed to enter the file system)

(ok the server is talking to us, its sent a greeting and some instructions first)

(cool its me and upto another 49 connections allowed at any one time)

(ok, so thats the time, and Im connecting on port 21)

Response: 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login

(hey these are the instructions)

(Ill try this user name to connect with)

Response: 331 User gltech.myzen.co.uk OK. Password required
(Ok my username was good but I have to provide a password)

Command: PASS ********
(ok ill use the password provided)

Response: 530 Login authentication failed
(dam password wasn't accepted)

Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server
