    Data recovery from knackered HD....indeed.:mad::<:(

    Does anybody know anything about recoving data from a corrupt (clicking) external HD.

    Nothing major lost...but some stuff I would like to recover.

  2. Is it physically damaged... or corrupt?

    Well if you can pull it out of the casing and stick it in a PC and get the OS to see it then I would recommend spinrite - GRC|SpinRite 5.0 to 6.0 (awful website, I know). Spinrite will take forever but it should make the drive stable enough to get the data off.

    Hi Mate,

    I've always recovered data using a Nix OS to grab the HDD and info from it. If the guy in the shop can't fix it let me know and I can take a look.
