Course books?

Hi guys,

I already have a good understanding of Photoshop, Illustrator etc, but I really want to progress my learning in a more refined way. Can anybody recommend any course style books, I've heard of the Classroom in a book series but is this really the right choice?

Contra, another good book I found recently is the The Graphic Design Exercise Book, by Carolyn Knight and Jessica Glaser.

It has creative briefs, ranging from introductory to intermediate to advanced, designed to allow you to fill out your portfolio and broaden you design abilities. Disciplines include packaging, branding, layout and screen design, and there's some good examples to spark you off.

I'm going to get stuck in when I next have some free time.

thanks for that Mitch, I've actually trailed off slightly from graphic design and currently trying to boost my illustration portfolio but I shall certainly give this one a go when I get round to it.
