Just got my Whipping Post leather guitar case from the USA, Handmade and nearly £600.
But isn't this a great piece of design and craftsmanship? One of a kind

Unfortunetly being USA the main pocket does not hold A4 but American Quarto size ( old designers will know this size)

wow, it looks great but that's a but-load of cash! It makes me wonder how much the guitar is worth?!
It's Mcilroy A30c handmade in ireland by ex Lowden luthier Dermot. Guitar's worth about £3k

More importantly, what is the guitar?

Secondly, why spend £600 odd on (an incredibly well made and seriously beautiful) soft case, when you could get something borderline bulletproof for that much in terms of a hard case?

I've got bulletproof Hiscox cases, but they are big and cumbersome. I wanted something lighter that i could carry over my shoulder. Also I wanted something as unique as the guitar and handmade.

In terms of the acoustic guitar, here is the general considered top 10 of acoustics.
1. Lowden
2. Mcilroy
3. Larrivee
4. Goodall
5. Huss & Dalton
6. Martin
7. Collings
8. Froggy Bottom
9. Bourgeois
10.Gibson

Personal taste would have Martin higher up, but when you get into anything that is custom built, standard is always going to be higher.

I've got a soft spot for Hofner, I know they were cheap guitars in their day, but there is something about the arched body and f hole sound that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside!

I used to have a Hofner and Egrmond f hole acoustic many yaers back, they are quite sought after now.

Martin make some good guitars especially the D45 and the Vintage series, but it's all mass produced now with so many models from £200 - £6000. Older 60//70's models that used Brazillian rosewood are what you need to find.
