Now-a-days retro and vintage designs are used for creating advertisement, illustrations, book covers, pins, posters and much more to attract the readers & viewers making them relive their old memories. These reminds of mid-20th century. These designs are being used as a selling strategy.
I like Pepsi's really old logo more than their modern one, but I unerstand they had to change it to differentiate themselves from Coca-Cola. Glad they use it really small on the back of the bottles though.
