If it's pulled off as good as the trailers look (pretty good in my opinion) then it will a good watch. But the issue is the same as usual, is the trailer all the good bits :p

I haven't seen Avatar (the blue people one) either. I refuse to pay 10 quid plus another 10 on petrol just to see it in 3D, especially considering it would be annoying wearing the 3d glasses as I wear normal glasses.

I wore the 3D glasses over my normal ones. It wasn't all that annoying. Avatar was good, but I'd have enjoyed it just as much in 2D. 3D is a gimmick that with any luck will die out quickly, just like it did in the 70's!

I watched the animated series a few months ago and thought it was fantastic, this movie looks absolutely phenomenal! And people, people, this isn't the blue people Avatar, this is something altogether different!

I like how they based each of the element-bending styles on real chinese martial arts movements.

I didn't even know about that last bit of information, but I do love the story and the evolution of the characters (and of course the subtle humor) :p

Yeah I think there was a mini documentary about how they studied chinese martial arts movements for each style. Air used a soft-style all about circular movements and evasion (Bagwa), Water bending was based on Tai Chi, Fire used Northern Shaolin Kung Fu I think, and Earth used strong solid stances and powerful movements (Hung Ga).

Ah, found it:

New trailer released
I don't think Katara looks very Katara-ish... And Aang is a little too chubby to match the animated series. Also the arrow looks different but kinda cool.

I don't think the kid's actually "chubby", it's just he's really young and baby-faced, plus his cultural mix make him the way he looks. I like the newly detailed arrow, makes it look more like a tattoo. The kid looks like he can actually act too which seems rare for someone so young. Tell you what though if they can squeeze ALL of Book 1: Water into a single coherent movie with everything making sense, I'll be impressed. :)

Did Bumi ever appear in Book 1: Water? I'd love to see who they cast for THAT role! Maybe Christopher Lloyd perhaps???

So this is only Book 1? Bumi never appeared there, perhaps Aang mentioned him in one of the later episodes when they decide to go to the Earth kingdom.

EDIT: I guess it is...

It is planned to be the first film in the The Last Airbender trilogy.
But he doesn't appear in the movie anyway, for a list of the characters you can just go to imdb.
The Last Airbender (2010) - Full cast and crew

Quite surprised to see Cliff Curtis as Ozai... doesn't seem like his type of role
