Hello all... please just assume I know zero, nada, zip about web designing / coding etc. I have put together a couple of Wordpress websites which is well and good but now i have the tricky task of SEOing; again clueluess lol.

Could somebody please explain to me how and where to place backlinks, and indeed is that they way to go?

    Thanking you :icon_thumbup:

Here you go, this pretty much covers it; Anchor text increases the effectiveness of your backlinks

Just a quick question on this.

If I have a block of 10 words I want to back link to the same page, is it better to:

    a) back link them as one link
    b) back link each word individually
    c) it really doesn't make a difference as long as they're back linked.

What are the 10 words, 10 keywords? that's a lot of keywords for one page...ideally you should create 10 individual pages targetting each keyword then link said keyword to that page.

Yep, agreed. Personally I try and link perhaps one or two key phrases in a blog/article post. Don't go mad and make it look as 'natural' as possible.

There are so many answers to this question but first are you sure your site is SEO'd okay?

Backlinks can be acquired from all sorts of sources including blogs, forums and other social media sites, some of these will be nofollow links.
A good way to acquire backlinks is by writing press releases and articles and there are plenty of free submission sites but to get the best out of this you should do proper article marketing. A lot of these submission sites won't provide much link juice, especially the ones that are crammed with adverts and other companies contextual links etc etc. So you do need to be selective.

Naturally you need to decide what keywords you want to rate for and of course you will be thinking you want the same as everyone else in this business. Naturally, you are going to find it almost impossible to get on the front page without a lot of hard work.

You should perhaps look at semantic keywords, pluralisation etc to find other keywords people search for which is slightly different and gives you a chance of getting something high in the search engines.

Also, you don't want all the backlinks coming to your home page, its a good idea to get links directly to your inner pages and use your site links to go to the home page.

Links built over a prolonged period are better than all at once from a paid source too.

Believe me this just scratches the surface!

    Anyway, good luck.

    Hi
This will largely depend on spend. There are a multitude of free admission sites but your article will be devalued if the site includes third party adverts and links. You really need to find sits that are almost free of this kind of devaluation of your article.

Article marketing is quite an art, more than many people think. My advice would be to try Article Productions blog and read many of the comments from James Stein.

There is a monthly cost to join the article marketing site but there will be no other advertising on your articles and they are on ranked sites.

However, there is so much more to this, too much to go into here. Try it. My pen name on the site is Johnio.
