Hey Guys,
just looking for some stories and tips about link building. Basically we have been trying to build as many links as we can recently, and over the weekend sent 200 emails to graphic designer to ask if they wanted to exchange links.. we got 4 back...! Thats a 2% return link rate.. Is this normal? I see Stationery Direct has over 35'000 links to them.. in my case this would mean me emailing over 1 and a half million people..!? surely not!? let me know guys! cheers Pete |

Hi,
Nice website!!! I think the problem you have is having no page rank, when we send out those types of messages its usually to websites with page rank 3 or above.... Where will your links be? we could link to each other"" our current website is being re-vamped as i text so the one you see is a little messy we feel. let me know Chris |

Google are very strict on links as I understand the subject.
The quality ones (in terms of PR / relevance) count - Backlink Checker | SEO Tools From Just Search is a good tool. That's my understanding - love to know current thoughts of other forum folk. Peter

I think same industry links won't do any good. Instead of two printing companies exchanging links, it should be printing company and perhaps paper supplier, shipping company or probably a design agency.
just my thought. I am happy to exchange link with anyone not same industry. |

It's very simple - the more relevant the better.

To get a page rank you need inbound links. To get good inbound links you usually have to pay. Get yourself a tool to analyze your competitor's links. I suggest web ceo (free), you will find that the Google links pointing to the competition won't be that many. Analyze these links, whenever you find a directory (paid or not) or a paid link from a forum do the same and buy a link from the same page.
You need to ptimize your site for the desired keywords, the same keywords should appear in the anchor text you use for linking to your site. It's difficult to explain, but if you need more help feel free to PM me. |

Link exchanges are inefficient and potentially dangerous - Google will penalize you for them if someone reports you as offering paid links. Without trial or the right to defend yourself, I must add, and the resubmission procedure takes months (I know about this, it's a killer). Paying for links is also the wrong way to go, it can bump you up in the short term, but you have to keep paying just to maintain your position.
You get quality inbound links from good content, that's all there is to it. Plenty of it and constantly updated. Your site's down by the way, in case you didn't know already (I can't see how good your content is). |

Lots of links from pages which are themselves unranked, counts for not much. Just a few links from high PR pages will count for a lot more. |
