    CMYK swatches

    hi all

first post, so please be gentle.

I have taught myself the basics over the last 6 months or so, and I'm designing a few logos, flyers, posters and brochures with Photoshop (local printer is very understanding and takes my PSD and Jpeg files).

I now need to create a pigment brochure for my partner's company products. The only way to show the pigment colours at the moment is to "blob chart" them - smear the pigment on a piece of paper with a cotton bud.

    Clearly, this is not acceptable.

I need to knbow if there is such a thing as a colour chart/swatch that I can lay next to the blob charts to get a CMYK value? With that, I can create a professional pigment brochure.

    Cheers all.

Yes. Pantone have Process colour charts that are swatches together with the relevent four colour breakdown.
Alternatively you could match them to Pantone spot colours and convert these to CMYK. This doesn't always reproduce exactly the right colour as not all spot colours can be reproduced in process printing. But it will give your printer something specific to match to.

    Hope that helps.
