Exporting files problem

Hello ,

I just wanted to ask how to properly export an Ai files (mobile UI Screen design) to editable sketcup files.

I just tried to export the files and save into .DXF files. Howver, when my client open the files in sketch its just a plain blank image.

I'm using a Windows and my client used MAC

They would need Sketchup Shop or Pro to import the DXF files.

If you're both working on things you both should really be using the same programmes.

Adobe Illustrator would be approximately the same price.

Thanks for response hanks. My clien't version of Sketch is version 54.1
And I cannot used Sketchup because it's not available in windows. I don't have MAC computer for now

Sketchup is available on Windows... I should know I've used it.

Sketch, which is mac only, is a different program to sketchup...

hi Levi,

I'm sorry for the confusion. What I mean is "Sketch is version 54.1 " Not the 3D program

Now the confusion is sorted.... DXF files will not open in sketch, they're an 'autocad' file format (they would open in sketchup though... but it's the wrong program)

sketch supports the formats listed below (quick google)
https://www.sketch.com/docs/exporting/file-formats/ - export
https://www.sketch.com/docs/other/importing/ - import

Seeing as you're using Ai and the other person sketch, you should be ok using eps or even svg format

SVG is probably the better format, I've opened EPS files in Sketch and they're often sliced up into chunks. Not ideal. Your client could use this SVG import plugin and create Sketch artboards from the SVGs, otherwise the SVGs will just be imported as vector objects, cropped to the boundaries of the shape (probably not what you want).
