Japanese Fonts!

Hi folks, do you guys have an idea where I could lay my hands on decent Japanese fonts? I've tried dafont etc... but they don't offer 'traditional-JAPANESE-japanese' font. Those are pretty 'fusion-style'. I would really appreciate some tips. Thanks in advance!

I've had a lot of difficulty with that.

Are you looking for actual Japanese character fonts?

Almost all the ones you'll find on the web are Kanji-ised (not a real word) versions of our Latin alphabet that are pretty stereotypical and cheesy.
Most of them quite Chinese looking too.

I've searched long and hard to find a solution but there seems to be quite a culture gap here and not only is there the issue of getting a Japanese font but it's also the issue of using a Western keyboard as well.

There are some Japanese fonts on the Mac system fonts but you need to paste the Japanese in that you've found somewhere else unless you can write Japanese of course.
Google translate is pretty good for this but you have to be careful.
I often make my own versions from that.

Maniackers has some really cool fonts and it's worth a visit just to look at the A-Z example pages which are awesome by themselves and great inspiration.

The problem you're going to have is that there is basically no 'a-z' in Japanese.

What exactly do you want the Japanese font for.

This might be an option for you though.

@Levi Thank you, I had the keyboard installed on my mac. I'm using Hiragana keyboard to type out the japanese characters. Its more of the font style that i'm looking at. Not the A-Z english font style with Japanese elements

Yes, I'm looking at the actual Japanese font (mainly, Hiragana and Kanji). I have difficulty with finding suitable fonts to fit into the poster of a Japanese F&B company. Styling the text has been an issue.

Google translate might not be the best for translating English to Japanese. I have to cross check with my friends and even google the translated text (from google translate) on Google itself! This is DEFINITELY a nightmare.

Thanks Scotty for your help, this website looks very promising!

Did a very quick google for hiragana fonts and came up with the below and links to many others. How good or accurate they are is another matter.
