Freelancing Advice needed!

Hey all you Freelancers! What is the one part of being a freelancer do you wish you had help with when you started out? I'm new to this and want to avoid the pitfalls.

Getting paid.

Sound advice! Any don't does when ensuring payment?

Just take a deposit before you start work, bill in stages if it's a bigger project, and don't hand over final files until the full amount is paid for. If the client won't pay a deposit, then they're not a client you want.

contracts....always sign a contract (or get written/email acceptance)
