Google Chrome displaying incorrect fonts (Sky)?

Hi Guys,

Today after clearing my Cache and Cookies, I noticed that Google Chrome is no longer displaying the correct fonts on SkySports.com (a website I frequently visit on my break). Rather than display the Sky font called 'SkyText Medium' it is displaying 'Helvetica' and 'Times'?

Please see below. Red highlights are the incorrect fonts Google Chrome are displaying. Green highlights are the correct 'SkyText Medium' fonts Safari is displaying:

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome but it has not rectified the problem. Only a graphic designer would even care about such font issues haha, it is driving me crazy!

Any ideas?

Found this posted somewhere...

A new font rendering system (DirectWrite) has been implemented to Chrome on its newest update, more about that here. That might be the reason why your browser font changed. Here are some troubleshooting guides for such issue.
  • Enable/Disable DirectWrite in chrome://flags, ctrl+F to find it. Then restart by clicking on Relaunch now.
  • If nothing works, go to Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available. Restart.

Ooohh that seems a bit much, it's only affecting the Sky Sports website, so I don't want to go changing any major settings unless absolutely necessary.

I don't think it's my browser fonts that have changed, they are set to Times and Helvetica by default I believe. The problem is, it won't load a particular font on the Sky Sports website, (all of Sky's other fonts display ok). Obviously, I don't have the Sky Sports fonts installed on my Mac, and I shouldn't need to, as they should load from the website like they did before and like they still do in Safari.

Inspect element errors:

Looks like a specific issue with Chrome - other than trying some font display tricks in chrome I have no other input here :)

As in what you suggested above? I can't actually find 'DirectWrite' via the cmd+F function. You'd think me uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling it would correct any issues.

Could any of these be the solution? Or is your guess as good as mine? Haha I literally do not know what I'm doing.

There is some issue around CSS and using @font or something like that - read about it last week, but I'm taking @scotty approach and just wasn't arsed posting it.

Ah ok, well its all good now. I think Chrome only had a problem with SkySports for some reason, as every other website loaded its fonts fine. Maybe it is just a coincidence, as I frequently visit SkySports, I may have been on the site when I cleared my cache and cookies, and it didn't like that.

I've noticed chrome seems to struggle loading .css files recently (possibly since the last update?). A page will load un-styled and then has to be refreshed to pull the styling in.
