Image copyright query

Hi all,

I am designing a banner for a church evangelist event which will be displayed in public.

I have found an image online that I would like to use but have concerns about copyright, but I am unable to find any accreditation for the image.

Can anyone help? Am i able to share that particular image on this forum?

Long answer – you should either seek permission from the copyright holder or find another image with a creative commons or relevant license attached.

Short answer – it's pretty unlikely anyone will know/care if you've used the image for a church event.

Use www.tineye.com to reverse image search.

You can then filter by stock sites (if anything shows up) and you can purchase the image from one of them.

Feel free to post the picture here or to send me a PM and I'll see what I can dig up.

Haha, like your short answer, thanks!

That’s very helpful, thanks a lot! Your answer was exactly what I was looking for - I needed to find some licence associated to with that image and www.tineye.com helped me do just that.

I have located the image on istock, paid and downloaded it.

Thanks again!

@Mia2017 Next time you look for a picture, I assume that you want to spare yourself from worrying about the copyright aspect. Therefore you should use services like for example Pixabay and Pexels. There you will find free images for commercial use.

And of course always read the license agreement for any free image you get.

There's plenty of pay for stock sites too and relatively cheap images.

Rememeber - photographers need to be paid too.

I agree with you. Sometimes the stock pictures are not good enough. They don't have the special dimension which would make the picture perfect. Therefore the option of buying a picture should always be open. The photographers need to be paid for their great job.

I don't think u have to worry about copyright things . it's religious service so no one should not be bother you.

Please keep your comments sensible at least.

Regardless of what you're using an image for, you always have to be respectful of where the image is coming from, who owns the rights and what is the correct payment for the usage of your image.

I would imagine a Religious group would prefer not to be associated with any sort of material that is stolen.
