Hi

I am a freelance web developer looking to do a new logo for myself. Any suggestions / feedback on my ideas would be great.

Thanks

I think 2 is ok, but it doesn't really say web developer to me. It looks to me like a logo
you would see on some industrial packaging, it may be the font choice?

Try the W logo with just a smart, techy font?

Same as hardy said.

I really like the "W" roundel.
I think that coupled with a simple, clean font choice would look nice.

I think I'd prefer it as just a typeface in a single colour. No need for that W thing or to overlap or to add colours. Just keep it clean and simple and you'll have no issues with it.

Hi Guys

I have listened to the feedback and have come back with some options.
@Paul Murray with 1 & 2 I have tried really simple options.
@Wardy @scotty I have tried the mark with a simpler typeface in options 3 & 4
@GCarlD I have tried a different mark in 5 & 6 with the same geometric theme but incorporating a JW

@GCarlD yeah I love the design of that typeface but that j is perhaps an issue. Apart from that do you have any other comments?

Yeah you will need to manually amend the 'j' to actually look like a 'J'. Your new mark looks more unique but I'd probably just lose it all together and go for one of your wordmarks.

A bit worried that you may lose 'web-development' at smaller scale, maybe it needs to be slightly bolder? Still not sure about your font choice but I think I prefer number 7 without the overlapping.

If you are going with your mark, I'd go for number 6.

Overall, I just don't quite get the web development vibe though. If you didn't have the words 'Web-Development' would you ever guess you were a web developer?

Do you think you dont get the vibe due to font choice?

I must say I am not sure how many brands out there I could guess what they did just from their logo. Would you guess Google was a search engine for example? What about your logo would tell me you are a designer?

I appreciate the feedback.

Here's what I'm getting at. The above logo is literally just the first result on a google image search for 'web developer logo'. It's not too bad, but looking at 'Zalewki' logo, before knowing he is a web dev, I reckon I would have definitely guessed it was something in the area of computer programming of some sort. This is due to his simple but fairly clever mark and yes his font choice does look like a nicer version of the typical 'code-like' font, it just feels fitting. I think what I am getting at is the emotive of his logo does come across like someone in the 'web' field. He doesn't have the word 'web developer' so I couldn't be 100% sure beforehand, but without the gift of hindsight, if someone told me this guy is a web developer, judging by the whole emotive of his logo, I wouldn't have been surprised.

My logo has a more personal meaning with my name centred and merged between Graphic and Design (I never liked being the centre of attention). The font choice is actually more commonly used for sports stuff, which again plays a big part of my interests. But the big giveaway is the name GraphiCarlDesign, tells people who I am and what I do before I even introduce myself. It's a play on word with Graphica(r)l and my name.

The history behind 'Google' is similar, it is actually from a misspelt word in which the term represents extremely large numbers, (to the power of 10 I believe). You could argue it would be fitting for something to do with mathematics but also large quantities of numbers/ data/ high volume of information, all indirectly fit in with a search engine. The word Google just sounds like a browsing word, it sounds like a word used to have a gander... but maybe that's just me.

It does look like a sports logo.

This is memorable for all the right reasons

Your logo just doesn't resonate with me as a person/company that is in web development.

4, but with a different font and jd in blue.

Have you tried to make jdw from coding symbols?

Hi Guys

I have listened to the comments and tried a new idea.

I have redesigned the logo mark with coding characters and I have selected a different typeface.

Let me know your thoughts.

Lose the braces and keep the trailing underscore. Maybe you could even animate it blinking when in situ on your site?
