Can anyone recommend an inexpensive graphics tablet?

I've recently hit up against a couple of things that would have been a lot easier to do with a graphics tablet - I wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of a usable one for a beginner that doesn't cost too much money?

A quick google throws up options anywhere between £25 & £500 and never having used one I can't really tell the difference between them.
 
I'd go for the Wacom Bamboo.

I used to use a big old Intuos which was a bit too big as I had to reach over it to my keyboard and this cost around £500.
A company bought me a Bamboo for around £70 and I was horrified at first as I thought there was no way it could compare but I found it just as good as the Intuos if not better as it was smaller and very portable.
You can get them pretty cheap from Ebay too.

Once you get used to a tablet you'll find it hard to live without one.
 
I guess a lot depends on what you'd use it for.

If you're wanting to do high end digital painting then yes, it's worth getting something larger that's better equipped.
For general use then a cheaper one will do way more that you'd need.

Before spending a lot though I'd try one or buy a cheaper one as some people just don't get on with them as the hand/eye thing can take some getting used to.
 
Ha ha, yes, that could be taken the wrong way, he did say for a beginner though.

bamboo tablets have been renamed/replaced with intuos... intuos got rebranded to intuos pro and bamboo is now basically a smart notepad and/or stylus for tablet pc's.... yeah nothing like confusing things...
 
Scrub what I said about Wacom models and listen to Levi.

That is a bit confusing now though. :(
