Hi guys,

I've currently finished my degree in Film and TV and wanting to start posting my stuff online (YouTube and Vimeo mainly) I go by the name Squishy Orange and have done for some time. As i've been doing a bit of research into similar people like myself i've realised they all have really cool graphic logo's etc. I was wondering if anyone could help me out here and bring my idea to life? I know what I want but i'm awful at drawing and would hope someone could really help me out.

The photo i've added onto this post is basically what i'd like it to be like with the hand being a white outline, the orange really bright and well orange, with only a single drop of juice going into a cup all on a black background.

I'm also open to suggestions about the idea! and even if no one can help ideas are always welcome, thankyou!

Firstly - you can't come here asking someone to work for free. We just don't do that. The same as if someone asked you to come up with an idea for a TV show, or a film - would you do that for free? Would you be willing for someone else to take your idea and make money from it?

You're more than welcome to ask for critique on a logo attempt - or if you want to hire a member of the forum please post in the classifieds.

As such - you don't dictate the price - you will get quotes, and if you're happy with the price and the persons portfolio/skill level - you may hire them to create the logo for you.

Don't take it the wrong way - I've been in the graphic design business for nearly 20 years and I've seen the trade being treated like crap.

Think of it this way - you're asking someone to perform a skill that you don't have. A skill I have, and others, have been practicising for nearly 20 years, some longer, some shorter. You don't have this skill. As such is the reason I buy steaks, bread, why I go to the doctor, or call a plumber out on a Sunday because a pipe burst. We do these things because we don't have the skill or expertise to do it ourselves. And we pay for them.

Just how much do you think it would cost to call a plumber today (Sunday) to come out and fix a leaking tap?

Why should that be any different to asking someone to design a logo for your online business/hobby?

Maybe speak to the design course leader at your uni, if there is one. They'll be able to put you in touch with a graduate or current student who will be able to help you. Maybe you could offer a skill-swap if you don't have a budget. The thing to remember with design is, free design is often very far from the standard you'd get from a paid designer. If you want to stand alongside your rivals who have decent logos then be prepared to have to pay for that quality.

Thanks guys! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, had a fair bit on the past few week and still getting my head around this forum :)

HankScorpio - I understand what you're saying and I totally agree, I didn't mean to come across like I was asking for someone to just wake up one day and design me a logo, forums aren't really something i'm used too and especially in this area of expertise. So, sorry for coming across like I wanted something for free, would my best option to try and get a mock up done and then ask for suggestions? Thanks

Paul Murray - Thanks for your advice as well! I've already left uni, but something worth looking into for help, for sure! I'd be more than happy to pay for a design I just think that my first request was my foot in the door in terms of getting the right advice to move forward with this! Thanks again guys!

You can post sketches of what you're looking for, and then one of the forum members will be able to complete the work and give you the correct files for production, like website, print, embroidery, etc.

Don't be offended in anyway, it's pretty normal that we get requests to work for little or no money. It's just a bad habit people in general have gotten into. However, we have diligent and knowledgeable members here, and we won't change the world on these forums, but we can ensure our forum members are represented correctly and that they can get fair work from it.

There are of course online sites that you can approach for much cheaper, design competitions and the like. However, you can't guarantee that the images they are using are original, or if the concept is unique, or if it's too similar to another logo, or a complete rip off of another. Plus it's my experience that these sites attract amateur designers who don't know the correct file formats, colour theory, raster vs vector, or even the colour models they are using in the logo to ensure correct colour output on all mediums, like print, web, etc.

One of the greatest disasters in this area happened way back in 1975 when NBC announced their logo - http://kenlevine.blogspot.ie/2011/09/one-of-nbcs-great-blunders.html
