which university should I choose

Which university is better to study graphic design: Falmouth or Northumbria? Comparing facilities, quality of learning and work prospects. Has anyone an opinion?:)

Craig Oldham is a Manchester-based designer who went to Falmouth – https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/content/craig-oldham He's pretty successful I guess you could say – author, speaker, D&AD judge.famous potty-mouth… I don't know of any 'famous' designers that went to Northumbria, but I'd put money on there being just as many as anywhere else if you look.

Really though, how well you do during and post course is entirely down to you. The contacts that YOU make during your time at uni will decide if/when you get employed once you've graduated. Some universities have a better reputation that others, but the industry isn't so snobbish that they'd pick a graduate with a weaker portfolio than you simply because they went to a 'better' university. Ultimately I'd pick the location you like the most since you'll be living there for 3 years of your life, and may find you want/need to remain there for longer once you've graduated.

I agree with Paul. Ultimately, your success will derive from how you use your time there. Do your research and pick the one that best suits your aspirations

I went to Falmouth many, many years ago, it was great when the weather was good…straight down the beach! Had a good reputation but it's a loooong way from anywhere! Northumbria used to be very good, don't know much about it now but I live not too far away from Newcastle & it's a great city with a really good design community & some good companies to pester for work experience plus a pretty good night life. I learnt more in my first 6 months as a junior designer at a good agency in London than in my 3 years at college though.
