Hi, I want to print businesscards for a car mechanic. The design is real simple, just like the one I added to this thread. Now to my question, What paper or grammage should I use?

- 250gsm uncoated paper
- 300gsm matt coated paper
- 300gsm laminated matt

What do these specifations mean?

Please help!

Firstly, you should discuss that with your client, if not you won't know how to have his business cards printed, or how he really wants them.

gsm = grams per square metre, so basically the weight / thickness of the paper / card.

The rest is pretty self-explanatory but your best bet would be to get samples from your printers, so that you and your client can really see and literally feel for yourself, the different card qualities / textures, how the print looks on coated vs uncoated paper, the way the ink sits on the card so to speak, does it look as if it is soaked into the card, or laying on top, what kind of effect are you going for etc...
