(Gentle!) critique/help please ..

Why go to <<removed>> when you get it done here for free...

When you get home tonight there'll be an extra storey on your house!

Pro… Logo… <<removed>>… does not compute…

Agree, same with the R in Dragon. Ideally they should be the same or close to the width of the A and V. Currently they look a bit weak. I'll try and find some fonts I'd recommend.

*Edit*

Something like Lato Black maybe? It has curves to some of the edges, so it's geometric and 'heavy' but also slightly organic, like say a dragon???

Like that, very similar but much more symmetric and 'right' looking I'll fire another version off in the next few hours, loving the constructive feedback so far tho, I agree it's come a long way.. Hope I can nail it soon hankscorpio, indeed.. And my car's been fixed ! Awesome..

Ok Tried the logo with the Lato black font suggested by Paul, but just didn't work, the flat/less circular sections of the G took all the life out of the dragon.. just didn't look right on'th eye.

Re-did from scratch with (I think it was!) Century Gothic and sharpened the edges on the G, adjusted the spacing, modified the face a little, and manually widened the R to match the other letters, just cut it and put some blocks in to widen it. Seems to work, now when I look at this version, I get some click in my head that tells me it is pleasing to the eye. May be a huge source of offence to your eyes lol, but it really looks good to me now.

Final verdicts/edits?

I've enjoyed this little journey immensely, and learned a lot of your hard-earned tips by your generosity and I truly appreciate it.

Maybe now i'm up to a 6/7 Levi? ;)

The 'U' looks a bit too thick now. On closer inspection, it is. The 'A' 'V' looks about right. The top of the 'R' looks rough, the part where it goes from straight point to the curve. You've gone back a step with the 'G', it's got that round cornered edge, it should have a straight point like the rest of the letters in the font. The dragon's chin (/bottom section of head) needs ironing out, and I can't help but think of a goat now you've put that idea in my head...

I think there are more suitable fonts out there like Paul's suggestion, if it didn't work, look for another one. This font just doesn't seem quite right, it's too... not sure how to explain, erm, unnatural? It's like it's too stiff? I'll try and explain better tomorrow, it's been a long day.

adjusted the U to match stroke thickness of other letters. Don't know about rough bit on R? Going in close I can't see an misalignment or owt.. please be a bit more specific so I can nail it down.

Appreciate what you say re: the font, but I've tried several now, and unless it has the circular style G, it stops looking like a coiled dragon and looked like a letter G with a head glued on. Just can't reconcile the issue. Finding a font that covers the necy bases (regular width letters, attractive'dragon'able round G, bold and direct etc) is proving difficult :(

Appreciate you input Carl, especially when your knackered mate.. Look forward to your thoughts tomoz ..

Aahhh I see what you've done; you've stretched out the width of the letters haven't you? That's why it looked odd to me, I couldn't put my finger on it last night haha. You've also rounded off the top corners of the 'A's.' You can't have some of the type with rounded corners and others with sharp edges, it needs to be either, or.

Also as I mentioned about the bottom of the dragon's head/chin, can you tweak that like I quickly did here (attached below) just so it looks that bit more natural so to speak.

Hadn't noticed the A's !, I agree with one or 'tother, that slipped through the net.. Thanks for the chin I'll graft it on tomoz if I can't match it !

Argghhh ! Started from scratch to tidy up the scaling issues given to the font by my stretching etc. Widening the R and U... The R is fairly easy by knifing through the three cross points to the right of the upright and extending it over (actually ended up using a P to do this.. But the U !! ARGGHH ! If I put a box in at the bottom to extend it, the curves are no longer in keeping with the style, tried adjusting the curves but can't perfectly match top and bottom of the stroke manually, could someone please advise the best way to stretch the u on the X while keeping its style, shape and stroke? Please !

image.png Sorry about vanishing (surely some relief ) but I think I have a final version, thought I'd show it as you folks were so helpful.. (Please god let it be ok lol) I've redone the text to keep the X,y scaling original, stretched out the R and U, edited the dragon head now in version V.18.12,1g..

Tried to keep the line/curve of the G thru the bottom of the eye, and have got the gaps between the N and U, and the A and V to match to give a kind of stripe element that pleases me.. I really underestimated the importance of line/alignment, have tried to me more compliant with it.

So here it is, and from where it started I'm really chuffed how this has come out, hope you guys agree.

Truly appreciate your time in replying and advising, thank you all

It's ok, but it's still saying goat to me, too friendly. I would go something like this, with sharper angles etc.
Even if it is looking like an Irish wolfhound! :)

Cheers Wardy, I'll graft the wolfhound on and have a look ! Like the spiky bits, I just don't have the workflow technique to do it without hours of dragging around handles/anchors.. And even then... Still, better and better.. I'll post when I have the hound mounted.. Um... Or something.

Ok, added the wolfhound !! Looks loads better than the goat/dolphin/tapir that I had going on :'D Thank you wardy.
Well, if that's it.. I'll call it a day on this and get on with all the other stuff !!
Thanks again Guys :)Complete Logo final 23 August 2016.png

This is just my opinion, so ignore me if anything but I actually thought your last effort, before the wolfhound, looked the most dragon-like. I did not see a goat with that one unless I looked for it. The latest version really looks like a wolf, I don't see much of a dragon.

Again, your last effort, before the wolfhound, was also more minimalist, which is more suited at smaller scales. I just prefer that one, sorry.

PS. I think the sharper angles help as suggested, but just not with the wolf features.

Yes, on reflection, I think something in between would be about right. Mine took me about ten minutes
and was never intended as the finished article. Just don't like that mouth.

AAAARRRRGHHH !!!! lol I preferred the hound, as my last one had a tapir nose, and I just dont have the yeye/experience to sharpen it all up and keep it balanced. I did have a play with it but it ended up looking sharper still.. I've noticed the Path->simplify can give me a lot of options in terms of basic shape, I'll have another look at it later. Thanks guys.
