Do "Top 10" lists work in marketing?

Hi everyone!
If I didn't choose the right forum section - sorry!
I'm new here and I need an advice. I'm gathering people's opinions.

Right now there's a thought on my mind.
I'm starting my own e-shop, selling female clothes. And I'm trying to find new ways to attract audience.
I often see articles with "Top 10" lists and they put some goods on the top, and some goods on the bottom of those lists.
For example, coffee machines like here http://jonsguide.org/best-keurig-coffee-maker-reviews/ or even Top 10 baby powders http://foryoulesson.com/top-10-best-baby-powder/ (I was really confused to see this list :))

What if I start posting my own "Top 10" articles on my website about different types of textile for hot summer with links on my shop? Would you buy from me if I would give you this kind of information?
I will appreciate any opinion!
I didn't leave a link to my web-site so you couldn't call it advertisment, but if you are interested - I will post it :)

List posts are more about attracting traffic. If you get the traffic you can then try and sell to them. Best thing to do is just try it and analyse the results. If it works for you then great, if not adapt the strategy and try again.

You could do something like "10 items you need in your wardrobe for any social occasion" then go on to show how you can mix and match a smaller number of items to create multiple outfits (with links to those belts, blouses, shoes, etc that your selling). You could also just post "outfit inspiration" articles that just show how you can combine pieces that you sell. The key is to get your stock in front of customers.

I thought about combining! And now you say it... I should do it))
I was thinking about selling bijouterie and combine it with clothes)))

top 10 lists are good at getting you shares on social media and getting organic links so in turn are good for traffic & good for seo. The key is to make sure it's something that people will want to share with their friends.

For example, you find 10 young (guaranteed to be using social media) hairdressers, email them saying "we're running a top 10 hair stylists to watch out for this summer article and you've made the list.. have a look here"... There is no way on this earth that they're not going to share that post on all social platfoms and then their super proud friends will do the same. In addition, if you make sure the 10 you picked are also reasonably compitent bloggers, they'll be sharing links to your article on their blogs (which may also get shares).

The above list doesn't in any way target the products you're selling but that doesn't matter provided your post engages the user and leads them into a single sales funnel. In this case that would perhaps be a hair styling range, using a closing one liner on the list such as "want to style your hair like our pro's this summer? click here to find out more." The key is not to give the user too much choice or too many opportunities to escape the funnel.
