    Gloscat graphics course late eighties?

I stood in for a while on the Graphics Course at Gloscat, to cover for a tutor who I believe had a brain tumour. This was in the late eighties, my name is Terry Symonds and I wondered if any of out there were taught by me and what you're doing now?

Power supply for a beige desktop power PC anyone?

Because I have two perfectly good repro scanners and an A2 postcript printer, I've kept an old SCSI Mac to run them, but the power supply has died and I need another if you have one lurking in your loft. Terry

Colour replacement brush - what am I doing wrong?

I've followed an online tutorial and far as I can see I've carried out all the actions it suggests but it's not working. I have a picture of my bike which is yellow and want to see what the bottom half of the fairing would look like in Black. I have black as the foreground colour, set the tool...

Photoshop to illustrator converting tone to vector?

I've imported the layers from Photoshop and have been able to create the lozenge shape I have by tweaking an ellipse placed over the original. In Photoshop the lozenge has an embossed effect on it, can I replicate that effect in Illustrator using the same technical settings (depth, angles etc,)...

Photoshop to illustrator converting tone to vector?

I've created a logo in Photoshop and would like to know if it's possible and how one can, take it into Illustrator and turn everything (including the tonal images) into vector.

    Anybody good with Calibre?

I'm just getting to grips (not very well) with Calibre trying to convert a couple of books for a client, who wants to sell on Kindle. I've got the original high res pdfs and have converted the files to generic ebook files, but when you open them, they gone all over the place. Hints and...

    Graphic Design is not art

I think if it came to it, I could have taken Hockney in a street fight!

    Interview dress etiquette

PS For my first interview, I turned up in three piece tweed suit on boiling hot day and walked in to find my interviewer to be, dancing the hornpipe on his desk, wearing tee shirt, rolled up jeans and bare footed - It just made me decide that it was probably somewhere I didn't want to work.

    Interview dress etiquette

Cvs not addressed to me personally, with spelling mistakes and/or lack of imagination went straight into the bin. If they didn't know what my company did, they'd pretty much had it after the first question. When I interviewed people I'd look at two things - shoes and watch. Lots of...

    Kula Problems

I must admit that until someone on this site enlightened me I'd never heard of Kula and I took a look at the time and liked the idea. I was using a pc as my internet connection then, but when that died I connected a spare eMac and started using that, but I can't connect to Kula. It tells...

Health & Safety for Graphic Designers

I always make sure that I'm wearing a hard hat, protective glasses and steel toe capped boots when using Photoshop!:icon_hide:

    Graphic Designers, not Magicians

Going back to the days of paste up, a client gave me a crumpled piece of paper to me with a very rough scamped idea on it and asked me if I could produce something from it. A day or so later he 'phoned to see where his job was and I said I was waiting for the artwork and he sounded puzzled...

    Desperate for work.

I've got no work on the horizon for the next couple of weeks and could really do with some. So if any one has or knows of any, I could do with it. Cheers Terry
