    formal training As with most things, it is a question of balance. On balance I believe a lot of so called training/work experience can be a waste of time and especially when the experience is very brief. Portfolio is a demonstration not only of flair/talent but also of technical ability.

    Drawing without a tablet.. I am drawing a map and was interested in a graphics tablet but have now drawn by hand and scanned sketches (in b/w) and then colourised in Photoshops, saved as PSD with transparency and dropped in to Illustrator onto main map.     there must be something in this then! Given so many negative responses there must be genuine issues with PCarrier then. I shall count myself lucky then. Going overseas though, as someone said, is not intrinsically a dangerous move...books are printed in Far east and China/S'apore etc as quality...
