    Good typography tutorials/projects/resources

Enric Jardi's Twenty-two Tips on Typography is a must read. It's really insightful and smart. It's small but full of good tips, definitely worth a look.

PC to Mac - Adobe CS differences

Hi peeps, Just applying for jobs and some are asking for proficiency with Mac based systems, of which I only have limited experience. I've been raised on PC's and learnt all the Adobe software in Windows. Is there a massive difference? Should I be trying to bridge any gaps or will I be ok...

    Print formats changed!

Well, all of the points you have made me think hard, and in a round about way it's probably easier to just do it. I've been advised by a hardened friend not to bother but I like being nice I guess. It probably will lead to more work and it is for charity. I'll just grit my teeth and do it...

    Print formats changed!

I finished and handed over a calendar project last week which my client approved. I contacted their printer of choice who told me they needed the pages sending across as individuals, despite the fact that it was to be printed as a book style calendar. My client has since decided that this...

    Cv advice

Much appreciated. I had assumed that that may be a stock reply. It does need tightening up a bit. I'll get on that tonight.

    Cv advice

Ok here's a link to it on Dropbox; https://dl.dropbox.com/u/736594/Tom%20cv/Tom%20Langfield%20CV.pdf I'm aware it's rather 'succinct' but how can I expand and improve it (bearing in mind that I have no actual agency/in house experience)?

Yeah that's probably a good idea! I'll get on that later! Cheers

    Cv advice

Just sent my cv and portfolio to a creative recruitment consultant who say they like what they see but they want a 'full cv', which I was under the impression I'd already given them! Can anyone give me any advice on writing a graphic design CV?

    Book recommendations for Christmas

How to be a graphic designer without losing your soul by Adrian Shaughnessy. It's a very practical choice but full of little gems of advice and anecdotes. Also I've just ordered The Modernist which looks rather badass.

    What camera?

I recently got the Nikon d3100. It's a decent price and the kit lens is OK, though not so amazing that you won't want to upgrade at some point.

Client disappears off face of Earth

Thanks for all the advice folks. It's good to know there is a real sense of community amongst graphic designers, as freelancing from home can feel quite lonely/alienated. It's a tough learning curve, eh?

Client disappears off face of Earth

It's one of those friend of a friend of a friend things. Well, at least I won't make this mistake again.

Client disappears off face of Earth

Cheers Mitch, I suspected as much. I feel like a massive douche now. Ah well. There is one thing I left out; this guy is married to a friend of my sisters. My sister has said she doesn't want to get involved as it's her friend etc, but I think the time has now come. Thanks again.

Client disappears off face of Earth

Hi folks, In the spring I was asked by a client (one who I'd done a little work for before) to design two PSD web layouts which he would then develop into working sites, one for his own business, and one for another local business. Both were existing sites, and I was merely giving them a...
