    Victorian typography

I am creating a Victorian themed infographic and need some suggestions on some fonts like on the attached images. Preferably some free fonts, although I am tempted to buy the Phaeton font as it's so wonderful.

A fussy client. A bad sign of things to come…

I have been designing for quite a few years now, though only freelance for a couple and I have dealt with pretty much every type of client before. The client in question is a pure client – not a friend, and came to me through my advertisement online. Hmmmm…you know the more I think about how...

A fussy client. A bad sign of things to come…

Cheers guys - some great advice and feedback there. I'm not giving up immediately - I will get a more detailed brief from her and go back to square one....watch this space. But from past experience like some of you, I know this could end like the worst job ever. I forgot to add that she also...

A fussy client. A bad sign of things to come…

I have taken on a job with a quirky fashion designer who wants a new identity for her website and a simple logo (just her name and no icon). I have met with her twice to discuss designs and ideas, and I just from these meetings I had an inclining that she was going to be very particular about...

    Ideas for graduate show poster

There are some great ideas here! I especially like the idea of some sorta vintage poster, love that style of graphology. I think I'll steer away from anything thats too stereotypically 'studenty' - as I don't think I want to pigeon-hole all students as beer drinking kebab eating morons. Its for...

    Breaking the industry

...That was precisely my point. Regardless if you have a degree or you just start working at a company without one, you still get paid peanuts.

    Breaking the industry

Great work. Unfortunately the UK design job industry is a sad state of affairs, and always will be in my opinion. It is over saturated and highly competitive. Graduates get a raw deal when it comes to trying to break into the industry as employers seem to always put experience above...

    Ideas for graduate show poster

Thanks Greg, great minds think alike hey. Well the show is actually at the end of April, so yes it ties in nicely with Easter. I was also thinking of a Spring theme - perhaps a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis... As well as promoting the art show, the poster also needs to promote the art...

    Ideas for graduate show poster

I need some ideas for concepts to design a poster for an art and design graduate show. Ideas I have at the moment are: Eggs - undiscovered talent waiting to be hatched. Something wrapped up - Discovering fresh new talent. Are these good ideas to continue with? What are the first words that...

    Problem solved! Cheers chris :)

    Vector Shape conundrum

Ooh I tried that but it seems it is not recognised as a 'complete shape', thus a photo cannot be placed inside. I think the problem I have is in Illustrator... I have not been able to join the nodes where I have replaced the corners, so the stroke is not continous??

    Vector Shape conundrum

Ok this may not actually sound as puzzling to some, but being a newbie to Illustrator and InDesign, it is something which I am hoping an expert can answer. I am trying to create a shape in Illustrator which I can then import into InDesign and use as a picture frame (so I can place photos inside...
