Thanks for your reply hankscorpio, but what I really mean is does it matter which order the inks are? So, for instance does the darker ink (shadows etc) need to number one, or doesn't it make any difference?

Unfortunately that approach doesn't work for an ellipse. It would be fine if this was a round circle, but not an ellipse.

I have an ellipse (blue shape in screen shot) 120mm tall / 135mm wide;
and then I have ELEVEN tabs (magenta in screen shot) that will be attached to this; these tabs need to step and repeat evenly around the ellipse.
Any smart suggestions on how I could achieve this effect?
Can anyone recommend any websites (or books) that have specific Photoshop exercises/challenges to perform – as opposed to tutorials.
I am not sure how practical this is but, ideally, I would like something that gave out weekly exercises and then followed it up a week or so later with possible...
