Macbook Pro for design: 15" or 17"?

thanks all for your replies, I already use an iMac at home so don't have any need to view the 15" through a monitor there, it's purely for using on the go and, most likely, as a standalone machine in another office where the client would like me to be 'on site' (as PR cover answering the phone!)

Macbook Pro for design: 15" or 17"?

Hi all, I'm guessing that some of you out there will use either of the Macbook Pro 15" or 17" versions, so I could use your input please! I'm going to start working for a couple of clients away from my home office so need a Macbook to work on when I'm out and about, and while I always thought...

    Annual Report design quote

It's for an NHS hospital trust who I used to do some work for with my old employer, before I went freelance. They've got to cut a lot of money from their PR & design budgets, so that's why I can't afford to price myself out of this one

    Annual Report design quote

Hi all, I've been asked to quote for designing an Annual Report in a similar format their current version. I usually do flyers and leaflets, and the occasional newsletter, and am not used to pricing up jobs such as this though I'd love the business! It's for 37 pages, full colour A4 with all...

Faulty hyperlinks in a PDF (Adobe InDesign)

Hi Chris I thought I'd try and preface it with the http:// and hey presto it works now :) Still don't know though why that particular URL needs the http and the others don't? Maybe it's good practice anyway to start them all with http , you live and learn

Faulty hyperlinks in a PDF (Adobe InDesign)

Hi all, any advice much appreciated. A client newsletter I've done in InDesign includes several hyperlinks as usual, which I've made live without a problem and then checked in the PDF file that they work, which they do - apart from one. Even though I've checked on the original InDesign...

google ad words - any experience?

Hi many thanks Katedesign, very helpful. I don't think he'd welcome the idea of trying to maintain it himself, so I suppose I could monitor it for him - for a nominal fee of course :) The client's a landscape gardener and his web domain is (name)landscapes.co.uk so that should also help very...

google ad words - any experience?

Hi all, any advice much appreciated Slight deviation from the normal graphic design requests, I'm doing a simple website in iWeb for a non-web savvy client, whose priority is getting traffic to his site. A colleague has suggested that google ad words is the best way to go, so I wondered if...

poster template for client - best format?

Hi sparkcreative that's helpful thanks. I'm pretty sure that the client (she's an ex colleague so I know her well) will be happy using the basic fonts (arial etc), she just wants to be able to work on the template. It's probably going to have to be Word so I'll find a way... cheers

poster template for client - best format?

Evening all A client' asked me to design her a generic poster template (ie with her branding and colours) which she can electronically update herself as and when necessary. The obvious format she suggested was Word, but as we know (well at least I know!) Word isn't the most designer-friendly...

    freelance rates

Hi can I ask questions in this bit about freelance rates? I know, I know, it's a question as old as time itself but I've just started out freelancing after being made redundant and have had little time to think about setting up a pricing package. What I do know is that I need to build a client...

    InDesign CS3 table problems!

hello kate thanks, I don't think that it's the software, I'm pretty sure it's me :( am still struggling to work with tables !!! InDesign CS3 table problems!

Hi anyone please help! Why on earth won't the table I've created on 1 page run over to the next page once I've clicked on the continuance (bottom right of the frame) tab? I'm not that experienced yet and tables is the one thing that I'm still struggling with! I am using InDesign CS3 thanks...
