I just saw a short video clip about people in Bangladesh who work in a t-shirt factory and manage to survive on $80 per month. I imagine that the rent there is extremely low and I know that food isn't really that costly either. So $60 per hour is definitely something that a person can survive...

It depends on what the buyer is looking for. Many people just want something simple for their website's header and $60 dollars for 1-2 hours worth of work is not that low.

The title sequence is the most interesting part of the show, but it doesn't last long enough, so I watch the rest of the episode as well : )

It may be okay to do some free work if you are auditioning for a very prestigious and high paying position in some company, but I see no reason to audition for a random little one-time project. I agree with this. We need to consider what would make the consumer feel more comfortable and a nice friendly logo like the first one should do the trick.
