    Yup, a mac is required. You don't need a license to download xcode and develop apps on the simulator - only to test on a real device and to publish to the store.

    You'll find it will look a whole lot better when you start increasing the whitespace around elements. It will also look a lot better if you make your padding consistent.

    Uh... If I'm looking at the right thing, that's Helvetica (probably Neue, bold, 75).

    Might be worth putting what you have at the moment on one side and try wireframing some different layouts. Paper and pen to start. It will helps with proportions as well as other things.

    I believe I have the previous version of this at home: IKEA | Desks & workstations | Desktop solutions | FREDRIK | Desk Simple stuff always works the best. If you want an elevated surface to work on then it's cheaper to wrap a brick in wrapping paper and get some wood cut to an A2 or A3 size...
