iPad as a graphics portfolio? Am I crazy?

I presented my work to a potential client on an iPad a while back and they were impressed by how good it looked. I opted to do this because I didn't have physical samples of the work which I wanted to show him. I knew a photographer who started to show his potential clients his work on an iPad -...

    Non payment?

I did quite a bit of freelancing for a design company a while back and although they always needed a nudge on the due date they alway paid up until I did a website for them (for one of their clients). It took me months to eventually get paid for all the work and I was even having to chase them...

Where to find royalty free vector graphics?

I've just started my own store offering premium quality vectors with the odd freebie thrown in. It's still (very) early days but may be of interest. www.justbeingcreative.co

What's your favourite and most hated font?

I'm going through a bit of a vintage font phase at the moment but I think just now my fav is League Gothic.Have to say that I really started to dislike Dax but only because the designer who I used to work with (and didn't like) used to use it for EVERYTHING.

    the PC hate-on

Macs tend to be more common in the industry and to be honest I prefer Macs over Pcs. Saying that I've just put Windows on to my Mac but only for testing websites in IE without having to track down a PC every time. In my last design job, we used all PCs and for some weird reason on cold...

    Starting Work Tomorrow ...

In a strange way, I miss the catalogues that I used to work on. 260 pages of shackles, gill nets and other marine equipment. I know... sounds boring. It wasn't that bad apart from just doing the one project for about 3 months and wondering whether you can still design stuff after. Hope...

What is the standard portfolio size?

Totally agree with everyone else. A3 with work presented well using the plastic pockets. If you can get one with pockets on the inside cover that'd be useful too, especially as your career progresses. You'll may find yourself working on material such as brochures which you want to keep intact...

    Self branding help needed!

I really, really like the "Dave Will..." idea. It's quirky and fun. I've never been a fan of just sticking the word design or creative after someone's name so it's great to see this approach to it.
