Thats sounds like a dreadful experience!
A very costly venture indeed.
Hope you can recover from it and its not broken the bank!
Good luck and stay safe.
Hi Hank
That sounds intriguing. Of course thats gonna to be an issue with these systems too.. they have to survive, otherwise users will suffer big time!
Thanks for bringing that point up and I look forward to hearing about your research and findings.
Hello
I own a small graphic design studio and I am considering adding an online print ordering system (web2print).
Thing is, I can't find any genuine reviews of such backend systems that we can 'bolt-on' to our website, or a 'stand-alone' system that we could 'skin' with our branding.
We are not...
Nice one David!
I'm starting to think that would be a far better system in this country... far better than the sh*te route I chose to take anyway!
Cheers for sharing the idea :-)
Hi Boss Hog.
I thought of that option, but this guy obviously knows how to play the game. After looking into it, he's in a huge rented house with no furniture and 2 Range Rovers on the tick!.... he's been here many times I suspect!! Where's the justice eh!
Hello
I've got a client who is a pretty smooth operator. We tried to be cautious but after 3 or 4 job done for him, we are left with 2 invoices from June 2015 we just can't get paid for, totalling almost £1,000 inc. VAT
We tried to offer more time to pay, we were promised payment 3 or 4 times...
Thanks for the suggestion. Trying out ChronaSyn at the moment. Works very well do far on two macs networked. It does bidirectional synchronisation which is the method I want. EG: two macs recognising files which have been created or altered on each machine and updating on both. Gonna take one of...
Hi Boss Hog
I didn't want to work on a server over the internet because of speed and connectivity. Yes, you could download the work files, but I think a better solution for me would be to do a 'mirror' of the two Macs.
I'm going to try ChronoSync on two macs in the studio (hopefully this week...
Morning Hank
Yes, since I posted on Friday evening, I did some searching and found this:
Synchronize and Backup your Mac with ChronoSync
I think this looks like something that fits the bill.
I might open a thread asking anyone if they have any experience using it.
Thank you
Peter
UPDATE
I've taken a look at Google Drive and don;t think it'll be good for my quest.
I don't want to work from a 'Cloud' (remote drive or server). I want someway of mirroring drives in two different locations. So basically all the same email, fonts, applications, utilities, current work etc are...
Hi Hank
Im very wary of using online services. I know dropbox works ok for transferring odd files and folders of files to clients and visa versa, but I find it a tad confusing and not sure if it'll be a good app to mirror say a 1GB HD. I know nothing about Google Drive and have never heard of...
Boss Hog - tell me more please?
How do these work. What would be a typical set-up?
Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm a designer that tries not to get too heavily involved with IT cos I'm so busy designing.
Cheers!
Peter
Hello
For years I've wondered if I could work from two different locations but use a 'mirrored' hard drive.
Here's the scenario
I have a small design studio in the North or England in which I use a Mac Pro set-up. This is linked to the internet using BT infinity. (between 50-70Mb speed)...
Hi all
We are trying to find a printer in Switzerland to print and deliver to our Swiss client.
We have shipped printing from the UK and also from a Polish printer into Switzerland but have been 'stung' by really large delivery & customs costs.
Does anyone know of, (or has anyone used) a...
